Comedy Night, B-Bar, Barbican Theatre

An intimate venue- by which I mean that my bum cheeks became indelicately acquainted with the bum cheeks of the stranger next to me- B-Bar is an innovative space where you can enjoy Thai cuisine served in American-style takeaway boxes, whilst enjoying three comedians and a compere under a light fit for a brothel.

I thoroughly enjoyed the evening's entertainment. The compere was entertaining, although as I ended up sitting front and centre (you have to get there VERY early if you want to avoid the limelight), I was rather picked upon by several of the comedians.

The first act was Scottish, and used this to his advantage very well. Although I had heard a number of the jokes about Scotland before, I did find him very funny, and his impressions were uncanny.

The Second act was slightly disappointing, and didn't really make much of an impression upon myself or my friends. It was slightly unfortunate that he found himself funnier than the audience found him; or it mayhave been a nervous giggle. All in all I found him rather lacklustre.

The third comedian and headline act was a 6ft 7 Australian, with a filthy mouth and rib achingly funny stories. He really had the audience going and was absolutely brilliant. Unfortunately, I don't think he will make it to the big-time as he crossed the PC line and can no longer find it to cross back over! It did not offend me, but I can't imagine the BBC giving him a break, which is a real shame.

Overall I would highly recommend this event, which occurs on the first Wednesday of every month. A great evening out with friends.
