I don't want to come across as mean. I appreciate that this was not a professional production. However I was very disappointed with this show.
Don't get me wrong, I thought that each and every actor was talented and it is not my intention to say otherwise. I particularly enjoyed the man who played the road sweeper, and the young man who played the lead soldier.
Unfortunately, although the premise was interesting and caused me to want to pay more attention to the things I may be missing going on around me, i felt that this was captured in the first scene and the production did not grow from there. As such, I was ready to leave after the second scene.
I thought it was interesting to have so many characters and no words, but I was disappointed to have come out feeling as if the production team had deliberately kept the cast quiet not for artistic value, but from a misplaced lack of trust.
The programme (pictured above) opens out to explain that each characted has been researched. I was therefore disappointed that more was not made of the particular characters they referred to. It made me wonder if they had been researched, particularly considering the use of the phrase 'top Barrister' which has little meaning.
I would go and see a people's company production again but I would not recommend this particular one. I hope that the company can blossom.
3/10
