This is the sad demise of the ANLO Scheme run by the Plymouth Theatre Royal. None of the shows in the new season will be eligible for the ANLO Scheme.
This is a real shame. The ANLO scheme encouraged young people to become engaged with the theatre, and to see a variety of shows. Without young people being drawn to the theatre, it is unlikely
that they will support it in their later years. With the price of tickets so high, it will be almost impossible for young people in general to get seats at the Theatre, and without the support of the next generation the theatre will surely die out. I feel that this is a short-sighted move and I hope that they reconsider this position.
The Friday fiver scheme will remain in place, however the price of this continues to creep up as it no longer includes the booking fee (which is an unavoidable extra). The Friday fiver scheme has also recently included fewer and fewer shows.
I have yet to be able to confirm whether discounted tickets can be booked through the ANLO scheme, or whether the ANLO scheme will cease to exist entirely. What a sad day this is for dramatic arts in the South West, which will once again be reserved for the middle-aged.
