One Man Two Guvnors- The Lyric, Theatre Royal

What a rib-tickling performance. The show began even before the audience had taken their seats, and kept them chortling the whole way through. It was entirely farcical and ridiculous, but an absolute joy to watch. My cheeks ached from laughing by the interval, and were positively painful by the end!

The use of the audience was done to great effect, and the staging was perfect. There were many moments when I thought the slapstick humour was going to go too far, but it never did- remaining on the brink of idiocy but retaining it's comical flavour.

I thoroughly enjoyed the musical elements, as well as the sometimes blue humour. I was very impressed with the ability of all of the actors to deal with unexpected occurences, and the ability to break character only momentarily before immediately switching back into them.

The whole audience will remember the phrase 'Hummus Sandwich!?' for a long time to come.

Congratulations on a wonderful performance. I would highly recommend going to see this show if you have the opportunity.
