Barbershopera- El Matador: A Christmas Close Shave

Sold-out shows, unbelievable close-harmony singing, fluid story-telling and a truly innovative performance by four very talented actors. I was captivated throughout, laughed so hard that I cried, and went home still singing the songs.

Propeller: A Midsummer Night's Dream, The Lyric- Plymouth Theatre Royal

Image: Plymouth Theatre Royal

I have been to see a fair few Shakespeare's, but never this one. I had no idea what the story was going to be about, and I had even less idea of how funny it would be. It was a sell-out show, and my friends and I got last minute tickets sat far away from each other.

Matthew Bourne's Swan Lake, The Lyric- Plymouth Theatre Royal

I have never seen the original Swan Lake, although I am very aware of the most famous scenes. I am definitely a fan of the music, and so I was looking forward to seeing Matthew Bourne's take on this traditional tale.

Fight Night- Theatre Royal, The Drum

We were handed voting machines, took our seats and the play began. I was honestly expecting something to do with boxing. That is not what I got.

Sleeping Beauty: A Gothic Romance- Theatre Royal, The Lyric

I had never been to see a ballet before, and I was expecting a lot of tutu's and tights. Instead, what I got was a dark love story.

The Ladykillers- Theatre Royal, The Lyric

I wasn't sure what to expect from this show. I managed to get a Friday Fiver ticket and went with a few friends. I supposed it would be gently humorous and quickly forgettable.

Blood Brothers- Theatre Royal, The Lyric

Theatre at its most captivating.

Blood brothers follows the lives of twin boys. One kept, one given away, growing up in different households and different social classes.
