20th Century Boy- The Lyric, Theatre Royal

I wasn't aware that I knew so many of T-Rex's tunes! I was absolutely blown away by this performance, the music, staging, acting and general pizzazz.

20th Century Boy looks at the life and career of Marc Bolan, lead singer of T-Rex, through the eyes of the son who never knew him, reliant upon the memories of those who did. It was provacative and heartfelt, although I felt that some of the Mother-Son scenes were a little too sickly sweet and over-acted.

The performers all had fantastic voices, and Marc Bolan was played to perfection. I thoroughly enjoyed every inch of the performance, and was thrilled to have some of my favourite tracks blasted at me including Ride a White Swan, We Love to Boogie and Hot Love.

The show had everyone up and dancing, and it was more like attending an exemplary concert than seeing a play. It was an aural and visual sensation. I highly recommend that anyone who can get their hands on a spare ticket, does so as a matter of priority.
